While I disagree with a few points, I agree with many. :: shrug ::

that is what keeps me from quitting this.

it isnt about the fat loot, or the world first whatever the fuck, it's the people you meet and interact with. I for one, would be a very different person if i hadn't met the people i have through this game. to me, it's just another medium in which to expand yourself as a person. except you get to kill dragons and shit.

1) One could be unhealthy, divorced, and alone late in life independent of being a guy that "wasted" hours on games as he feels. Not being sociable shouldn't be attributed to gaming addiction, any addiction for that matter could have turned a person into the anti-social, depressed loaner. It could just be his charming personality that left him where he is. He admits he gave up sleep, health and career to play games. That is not normal and if any of you are doing that, you are an addict. Go get help.

2) He mentions the "community" and the "social interaction" as an afterthought. For about half of the people in MMOs; that is the main feature that makes them even be a gamer. The social impact of games, even as limited as it is makes it more of an entertainment value than various other pass times and why interactive gaming is growing as an industry and Hollywood brainlessness is shrinking comparatively.

3) And lets say he had not been playing games, would he really be running Marathons? Not likely. America's favorite time sink is watching TV FFS. People that are sedentary like that would not amazingly become Athletic in the absence of one thing. He would be a "couch potato" instead I guarantee it. Would really have no need to interact with another human being, just stare at the boob tube. Who the hell is he kidding?

4) What else would people be doing if not gaming? I'd be at the bar more shooting pool and building up a Beer gut like Norm from the old TV show Cheers. Would have my own stool at the bar too. That is social but not healthy at all. Drains your wallet too. No thank you mofos, I'll buy the Battlefield game and talk smack to my lil brother in game every weekend since we have no Football to argue over.

5) And since he got me started on this shit. WTF is up with people going to extremes and not moderating their consumption of anything? Are we all now living in a society of stupid fat fucks? Why is no one preaching self control to others?
Control your gaming time, control your eating habits, control your alcohol drinking and control your pill popping, crack smoking, TV watching stupidity people. Moderation is good. Do some other simple stuff like taking a friging WALK in the park, ride a bike or learn to play a guitar. You don't have to become Lance Armstrong people, cause he is extreme too. Rent a bike at the beach and go for a few miles down the path or boardwalk or something like it you lazy FUCKS ! Hump more, eat less and stop smoking w/e the hell you do smoke. That would be my soap box screaming in a you tube video if I ever made one. 8)
Take care not to make the intellect our god; it has powerful muscles but no personality. -Einstein

Kam...I wanted to make a similar post, but my addiction to video games has sapped my ambition from me and made me unable to complete a coherent thought.

Thank you for that. Now I must log back in to WoW all weekend and ignore my wife...

2 Thumbs up Kam. Couldn't have said it better myself, then again you were always a man of words.
